my weekly reading with Over the Moon oracle cards 12/28/14

Here's my reading for this week, using my 3-card spread.

Beggar | Jack of Diamonds in the first position relates to some money issues this week which I can already feel. This may relate to my bank balance falling below $25 as seen in a reading from a few weeks ago. I should be alert to this happening again. Depreciation | 5 of Diamonds under this one confirms money dwindling. I have been working on a reduced schedule and it looks like I might need to get my hours up again to prepare for the upcoming months, especially since some of the money-making projects I was expecting to complete have not been completed yet.

Waiting | 2 of Clubs suggests this week I'll be waiting for something, or perhaps just feeling cabin fever from hibernation. I may also be asking, "Should I stay or go?" Forgiveness | 6 of Hearts can relate to receiving help or there may be a need to forgive and forget. Perhaps it's showing receiving an extra boost of cash when I desperately need it.

Looking at the playing card side, things don't look so bad. After all, there are 3 red cards! The numerical theme this week is 6 which shows my energy is geared toward helping and taking care of responsibilities. I may feel a conflict between responsibility and reward however. During a 6 themed-week, I may feel resentful for helping so much or putting in so much effort and not seeing much reward.

POSTSCRIPT 1/9/15: I almost forgot to add something here. The first column showed that I did a little overspending this week, on things I hadn't planned - impulse purchases. Beggar also seems to come up when I'm really concerned about my finances as I was that week. I'm wondering if I will have enough money and projects to last for the next few months. I don't have any good associations to the second column although it did occur to me that it is an apt picture of waiting for the ball to drop on New Year's Eve. Although we were at the movies when this happened, there was considerable talk about waiting for the ball to drop and the New Year festivities we should arrange.

my weekly reading with Over the Moon oracle cards 12/22/14

Here are the cards I chose for this week.

This week, Congratulations | 9 of Diamonds in the first position suggests there may be a celebration of some accomplishment. With Division | 2 of Diamonds under it, the congratulations may be given to another person as well. We will have to share the spotlight. However, it just occurred to me that I don't have a card to signify celebrations in general so maybe this is the one we should use. In this light, Congratulations may simply show the holiday celebrations this week.

I don't like the look of  the second column. Deceit | 7 of Spades has been coming up in my personal readings a lot lately. As I mentioned before, I've changed this card to Caution but I haven't gotten it reprinted yet. The deceit or caution is over Hostess | Queen of Clubs. In my playing card system, this Queen can represent "the other woman" so you can see my concern about these two cards appearing together in this layout. In general, the Hostess is a woman who is usually a friend to the questioner. She represents a single woman who is friendly and fun.

If we look at the playing card side, we can see that this Queen is also patient and persistent (she's facing a Diamonds card). If this is "the other woman" it shows she will be patient and persistent in getting what she wants.

Let's look at the numerical theme: 9 + 7 + 2 + 12 (Queen) = 30 = 3 + 0 = 3. This is a great numerical theme to get. It reflects a time of increase and expansion, particularly in terms of social connections. In light of this theme, the Queen may show up this week as a friend or new acquaintance.

POSTSCRIPT 12/30/14: At first, most of this did not make sense last week, although I could feel the 3 energy and did come into contact with more people as well as met someone new. It's only today that I'm understanding some of the energy of the Congratulations, Deceit and Division cards. I had to quickly complete a deliverable last week and had to pat myself on the back that I was able to finish it in only 3 days still suffering with remnants of the flu (Congratulations). I'm just now discovering that there is another training company involved in this project and that I will have to work with them in some way (Division). The project manager who contracted with me didn't mention them or their involvement in this project (Deceit or Hidden).

JOURNAL: winter solstice/new moon reading

Little Red Tarot shared a wonderful Winter Solstice/New Moon Tarot Spread. The winter solstice marks the shortest day and longest night of the year, when the sun is at its lowest arc in the sky, resulting in a long, dark night. Symbolically, this is a time of rebirth and renewal.

Here are the cards I chose.

Where you stand - you, now, and the energy around you

My first thought when I saw Commitment | 4 of Hearts was of the committed relationship I'm in and how unusual it is to (1) be in a relationship with anyone, and (2) really FEEL committed to someone. Commitment is difficult for me - yes, I'm usually the one who is running away from it. But I'm trying to make different choices now. Seeing this card confirms that I am indeed making different choices and this feels like a very positive stage of my growth. It also shows that I'm becoming more comfortable with living a life filled with routine.

Something to leave behind - you won't be needing this anymore.

This seems to be the opposite of the first card. The Troublemaker | Jack of Spades might be running away from a commitment. He is certainly running away from the responsibility of something. This is another pattern I know all too well. Sometimes it's easier to start over than the deal with the drudgery and details of some boring responsibility.

Something to receive - look for the opportunity to accept this gift from outside yourself - another person, the Universe...

Perhaps Owner | King of Diamonds relates to business ownership here. I already have a lot of independent contractor projects but I don't run any of them like a real business. Maybe it's time. This King also represents power, leadership, and wisdom to me so these are all great things to receive as well.

Something to learn - the past lunar month or year has taught you this.

Seeing Friendship | 3 of Hearts here was so sweet. I have a very hard time making real friends. I am shy and usually have my guard up. Plus, I'm pretty picky about who I associate with so my friends circle is small. But this year I'm realizing that I've met some pretty wonderful friends since moving to this small Southern city.

Something to give - offer this to the world as you go.

The image for Fantasy | 7 of Hearts was chosen so that it could also represent psychic ability, divination, and all things woo woo and this is the interpretation I would use here. Perhaps I have more to offer in the way of my divination expertise.

Your hopes and dreams - the spirit in which you are stepping forward into the next phase.

I think Mother | Queen of Diamonds shows that I'm finally embracing the energy of mothering, taking on the responsibility of nurturing myself and others.

Your secret special skill - a resource to help you on your journey.

Again, from a relationship perspective, Sweetheart | Queen of Hearts is showing the skill needed to be in a committed relationship. But this Queen is much deeper than that. She has a real appreciation for all living things, she knows how to commune with life and not take any day for granted. Her peace and inner joy doesn't come from material possessions but from simply embracing life and all of its gifts.

my weekly reading with Over the Moon oracle cards 12/14/14

Just scanning the cards, it looks like a rough week. Interference, Official and Beggar relate to the influence of several other people: someone who interferes or acts as a third wheel; an authority figure or emotionally distant man; and someone in need. Official can represent stubbornness and someone who is a know-it-all. Beggar may not always show someone who is asking for money but it can reflect that money doesn't come easily for them or this card may appear in a reading concerning one's financial status. Status shows a pleasant scene of a young woman enjoying the good life but this card can also show a change of status and, over Beggar, perhaps my financial status will change this week and I may be in need of some extra cash.

If we turn the cards over we see this layout on the playing card side. The numerical theme 3 + 8 + 13 (King) + 11 (Jack) = 35 = 3 + 5 = 8. An eight numerical theme shows that what motivates me this week is money, property, career, and putting goals into action. However, the combination of Diamonds-Spades reflects several themes working against that energy: financial trouble, extremely slow progress, delays, debts, and disputes over money.

Finally, we see a dynamic using the directional cues between the two face cards, the King of Spades and the Jack of Diamonds. These cards may show the influence of two people in my life this week. The first (King of Spades) is a man who may be emotionally distant who has a patient and persistent outlook. The second is a person who is in need with an unhappy and pessimistic outlook. When face cards face each other side by side this shows confrontation, rivalry and a heated conversation. There is the (strong) possibility that I'm represented by the Jack in this reading, especially since I have already had a taste of this conflict.

We'll see what the week brings...

POSTSCRIPT 12/20/14:
Well, the only part of the reading I understand is the Status over Beggar column. This week I received notices that two different bank account balances had fallen below $25 (Beggar). However, I had plenty to cover it in my savings and was expecting payment from some work so I didn't sweat it (Status).

Luckily, I was not aware of the influence of the Interference card nor did a heated conversation happen. The entire week I was sick with the flu. It's interesting that it didn't show up in the cards because it really took over everything this week.

the deck interview

This is a spread used to "interview" your new deck. It's a great way to find out its potential.

What will you offer?

Traveler | Jack of Clubs is the same card I got in my first reading. Perhaps this deck will offer new adventures, a way for people to get from here to there, and discover where they are headed.

What will you help us discover about ourselves?

Maybe we will gain wisdom and a wealth of knowledge like the gentleman in the Owner | King of Diamonds who carries books under his arm. The card keyword suggests this deck will help us take ownership of our issues.

What type of readings will you excel at?

Friendship | 3 of Hearts shows relationship readings of all kinds. Any type of reading that helps connect you with someone else.

What should I do to collaborate with you?

Hmmm, when I saw Widow | Queen of Spades, I was tempted to pull another. Instead, I sat with it and did a story method of interpreting. The question is asking what to do so I need to focus on what the woman is doing not how she's feeling. She's holding keys. To collaborate with the deck, I need to "hold the keys" or be the key to decoding the deck and helping people work with the deck.

What is the potential outcome of our working relationship?

I definitely didn't want to see Delay | 4 of Spades here. It relates to delays, disappointment, and a disruption of plans. What you expect to happen will not happen as planned. Perhaps my vision for the way I'll work with the deck will not be how it's actually used.

How would you interpret these cards in these positions?

my weekly reading with Over the Moon oracle cards 12/7/14

via Instagram http://ift.tt/1AH00WD
The focus this week is on relationships, particularly those that feel like family. This extends to groups of all kinds including your work family, even your social media network. As we're in the holiday season, I must beware of overspending, dwindling savings, and low funds. But it's equally important to watch where I'm frittering away my time and energy as well. I may be exhausting myself trying to keep up with too many activities or trying to please everyone.
An older gentleman or a business owner may have a strong influence, particularly in the area of finances. This week, I'm vibrating a 2 energy and will be focused on cooperation, sharing, and compatibility. In this light, a minor rejection may have a major impact. I must remember to brush it off and keep it moving. Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, we CAN'T all get along.

==========
Here's what happened...
~ I spent time with members of my extended family I haven't visited in several months.
~ I taught a class and must invoice the business owner as she is the Sponsor of the class.
~ I didn't overspend money but I did fritter my time away....lots of procrastination. I was supposed to be studying for a state licensing exam but really had trouble focusing.
~ I didn't notice any rejection. Perhaps the snub was so minor I didn't even notice it.

JOURNAL: what new opportunities can I expect this month?

I performed a 4-card spread to answer this question. Each card represents a different opportunity with Card 1 showing the most significant opportunity.

The most significant opportunity this month is reaching a milestone and taking pride in my work and accomplishments (Congratulations | 9 of Diamonds).  However, there may be criticism from others  (in the Congratulations card, other women are looking on in envy and the Criticism | 7 of Clubs card is next to it.). I may also have an opportunity to take on a new leadership role (Leader | King of Clubs).

It also looks like I'll have the opportunity to express my concerns about something, possibly getting something off my chest (combination of Criticism and Conversation | 3 of Clubs). What I love about these cards is the patterns you'll see. The Criticism and Conversation characters are making similar gestures, thus showing a strong connection and congruence between these two cards. This combo can also reveal an opportunity to receive constructive criticism and advice.

If we turn the cards over, we see the playing card side gives even more information.

First, we see that Clubs predominate. This shows that I will need to manage frustration and impatience this month regarding these opportunities. We can also look at the numerical theme to reveal the overall theme for the month. We add the numbers of each card 9 + 7 + 13 + 3 = 32 and reduce the number by adding again 3 + 2 = 5. Five (5) is the numerical theme.

Now, I understand the frustration and impatience energy of the Clubs. The 5 numerical theme reflects a conflict between pleasing others vs. pleasing self. There is usually a power struggle involved. When the 5 theme appears, you desire to assert your freedom and break away from the crowd. During a five vibration, criticism is especially difficult hear because you're not trying to play nice with anyone. I've already begun feeling this energy so I must watch for behaviors and words that cause division.

The playing cards give me more insight into my outlook for the month, forcing me to look at the images a little differently. I may be faced with potential conflict in the form of criticism, possibly from an authority figure (Leader), but I should receive it as an opportunity rather than a threat. There may be haters around (Congratulations) trying to defeat my pride but I need to focus on celebrating my growth and accomplishments.

What do you think about using the playing card side
to get additional information?

JOURNAL: what's my next step with the cards?

I firmly believe that each deck of cards has its own personality and it's own interpretations, even if there are keywords on each card. When I get a new deck, I spend considerable time doing readings, sometimes just for myself and sometimes for others too. Should I jump onto some forums to share readings, or just focus on quiet study?

Let's see what comes out of a reading.

Here's what I got:

 Do This

NOT This

Security | Ace of Diamonds reflects quiet study, so that's my answer. But what to make of Depreciation | 5 of Diamonds? This card relates to things being eaten away. It's a Diamonds card and typically suggests dwindling finances, gambling away money and bad credit. When this card appears, you may be spending more time, money and energy than you can afford....BINGO! In this case, this card warns not to go overboard connecting with this new deck. After all, I have plenty of other projects I need to attend to. I also need to watch my spending -- my intention is to purchase a few more prototypes as I see some changes I want to make with the deck.

I wasn't expecting the Conversation | 3 of Clubs card to pop out while shuffling. These are called "jumpers" because they jump out of the deck unexpectedly. Conversation gives me the impression that I need to be sharing this info with others or spreading the word. Well, I have this blog and my Instagram and Twitter accounts so they will be my main focus.

Do you use a quick advice spread like DO This, NOT This?
Share it in the comments...always on the lookout for new spreads!
