Sample Reading: general reading for the month

Hi, I'm new at this and pulled out 3 cards- 9hearts, big joker and 6 diamonds... not sure how to interpret this reading, My question was a general for the month and what would occur... am I reading this spread correctly? Thank you

You set an intention to do a general reading for the month so each of the cards is giving you information about that. The first card represents the setting/environment for the month or your current experience. The middle card shows the primary concern, underlying influence, or possible problem that will occur during the month, while the final card shows the outcome for the month.

If we make a formula of the basic meanings of each card, your reading is:

a wish + major shake up = bonus, gift, extra

In every reading, all three cards are connected to each other. The energy of the first card will lead to the energy of the last card. So you can summarize this reading as you have a wish about something (perhaps its financial based on the final card). You can expect a major shake up that leads to a bonus, gift, or extra. Of course, the 6 of Diamonds may not relate to money at all. It can relate to extra work or extra people, although it's typically a positive card.

We can also look at the numerical theme (in this case 6) for insight into your personal energy for the month. The 6 theme shows a conflict between responsibility and reward. You may have been putting others ahead of yourself and now are wondering if it will pay off. The 6 of Diamonds suggests that it will.

Hope that makes sense, although you may not recognize the energies of this reading yet since you did a general reading for the month. They may reveal themselves over the course of the month.

how to use the jokers

The Joker in a regular playing card deck is often used as a wild card. I like to keep this card in the deck and use it in my readings. Here are some ways the Joker can be used.

The Joker signifies an unknown quality and can mean that something completely unexpected will occur in the questioner’s life. The Joker is like a blank slate -- although you may have clear plans about your direction, life may take you on an important journey.

In most playing card decks there are two Jokers. In these cases, I assign two different meanings to them. One I call the Little Joker and the other becomes the Big Joker. The Little Joker is similar to The Fool in tarot and may signify unexpected journeys, crossroads, leap of faith, new outlook, and a new direction. The Big Joker is similar to the Tower in tarot and may represent a major shake-up, destructive change, releasing old habits and ideas, or internal and external cleansing process.

There are two Jokers in Over the Moon Oracle Cards. The Little Joker has the keyword New Outlook and the Big Joker's keyword is Major Shake-Up. New Outlook depicts a boy who appears to be seeing something amazing out of an open window, and Major Shake-Up shows a woman freaking out and running from a couple of mice.

One thing I’ve discovered about the Jokers is that how often they appear in your readings depends on how you use them and what meanings you attach to them. Jokers don’t appear very frequently in my readings because I use them as major life changing events. If you use them to mean surprises or unexpected occurrences, they may show up more frequently. So in my readings, when two Jokers appear in a 3-card spread there is a tremendous amount of change going on and lots of surprises from life. Double Jokers (Jokers side by side) suggest something even bigger, like a major life change that requires both a destructive phase and a leap of faith into new territory.
